Sat., and Sun., April 27 – 28  | 11 am – 3 pm | Included with Admission

Waddle on over to the National Aviary and celebrate everyone’s favorite flightless feathered friends: penguins! Meet the colony of African Penguins in Penguin Point, watch a fun feeding and chat with National Aviary experts, find out what makes penguins so unique, make your own penguin craft, and more. Learn how you can help penguins and other marine life every day.

SPECIAL GUEST: Enjoy a scheduled visit from Iceburgh from Noon – 1 pm on Sunday!

Penguin-Palooza Schedule:

10:30 am: African Penguin Feeding | Penguin Point
11 am – 3 pm: See How You Compare | Penguin Point

  • Stand next to each of the penguin species wall charts and see which one you are. 

11 am – 3 pm: African Bird Scavenger Hunt, presented by Dollar Bank | Immersive Habitats
11 am – 3 pm:
 Penguin Discovery Zone | Learning Center

  • Penguin Biofact Exploration Table
  • Learn about Sustainable Seafood from an expert
  • Learn “Where in the World” penguins live from an expert
  • Play fun games:
    • Penguin Adaptation Game
    • Penguin Trivia
  • Read a cute book
  • Make a craft to take home
  • Don’t forget: If you visit the Penguin Discovery Zone and turn in your completed scavenger hunt, you’ll get a prize!

2:45 pm: African Penguin Talk with an African Penguin Animal Ambassador | Helen M. Schmidt FlightZone Theater
4 pm: African Penguin Feeding | Penguin Point

Add-on fun: In honor of Penguin-Palooza, create your own waddle-ful work of art! Join Maria DeSimone Prascak of Maria’s Ideas; MariasIdeas.com Thurs., May 2 at 5:30 pm for a creative and colorful class in painting your own fine and feathered masterpiece. Learn more and register!
